During my pitching career at College of the Canyons, my fastball was about 82 mph. In order for me to turn pro, I needed to throw in the low to mid 90’s. Since I was 6’2” and 180 pounds, the only way to increase my speed was to gain muscles. I met with Frank Giardina to gain weight and muscles and he put me on 5000 calories a day.
Before the nutrition program, I didn’t have the best energy and stamina. At the end of a baseball game, I was exhausted and it would take me days to recover. After starting my nutrition program, the first thing I noticed was my increase in energy, endurance and stamina. I also felt tremendously stronger at the gym. This happened during my off-season from baseball.
After returning back to school, my coaches asked what I did off-season since I gained 50 pounds of lean muscles and my body fat went down to 11%. I told my coaches that I started seeing one of the top nutritionist in the industry and his expertise is retaining muscles and losing fat. I felt stronger, faster and my pitches went from 82 to as high as 94 mph. Even after pitching nine innings, my recovery time is 24 hours instead of several days.
Frank enlightened me that nutrition was a huge factor in giving me the energy, endurance and stamina that I needed to recuperate quickly and pitch at a professional level. I am proud to say, the NY Yankees drafted me in April. This is due to having Frank Giardina as my nutritionist.
Frank is not only my nutritionist, but he’s been my inspiration, my rock, a person to go to and my friend.
